Managing Your School’s Recovery From an Emergency Incident

Duration: 45 to 60 min.

Objective: This course has been developed to enhance the ability and capacity of K-12 schools, school districts, and community partners to recover and return their whole school community to normalcy after an emergency incident or event. Learn how to update and enhance the Recovery Annex of your school emergency operations plan (EOP) to restore programming, operations, and the school environment, while taking into consideration the extent and magnitude of the emergency. This course is recommended for school administrators, faculty, and personnel at K-12 schools and school districts as well as state, regional, and community partners who have a role or responsibility in emergency management planning.

  • Module 1–Course Overview and Introduction to Recovery
  • Module 2–Four Types of Recovery (Academic; Business Services; Health, Social, Emotional, and Behavioral; and Physical and Structural Recovery)
  • Module 3–Three Time Frames of Recovery (Immediate, Short Term, Long Term)
  • Module 4–Using the Three Time Frames of Recovery to Address the Four Types of Recovery
  • Module 5–Course Closeout and Evaluation
