Training Packages - Materials for Asynchronous or Synchronous Training

Training is a critical component of school safety, security, emergency management, and preparedness. To support you in your training efforts — independent, in-person, and virtual — the REMS TA Center created materials for you to use on your own and/or at your site. These downloadable modules are intended for education agencies to use to train teams and supplement training and exercise programs.

Specialized Training Package

The Specialized Training Package explores topics in emergency operations plan development, including planning for functions, hazards, and threats; implementing planning basics and principles; and using free products and services from the REMS TA Center in this work. Each module contains a presentation with speaker’s notes, instructions, a resource list, and, in some cases, a tabletop exercise. For practitioners who wish to assemble all of the training materials into a binder, the REMS TA Center has created a cover page and table of contents for all modules. Read more in our Specialized Training Package Flyer and share with others.

Emergency Exercises Training Package

The Emergency Exercises Training Package may be used to strengthen EOPs and identify gaps and weaknesses. It supports K-12 schools and school districts in conducting emergency exercises to practice and refine an EOP. This training package includes detailed instructions for using the package; supplemental resources on emergency exercises; fact sheets sharing best practices for conducting emergency exercises and developing after-action reports; and five tabletop exercises that may each include a facilitator podcast, participant guide, and resource list for scenarios involving infectious disease, power outage, flood, human error, and cybersecurity incidents that impact education agencies.
