On Friday, February 10, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET, the REMS TA Center, on behalf of ED's OSHS, hosted a Webinar on how K-12 schools and districts can better plan for a range of threats and hazards by focusing on the five preparedness missions of prevention, mitigation, protection, response, and recovery.

Presenters in this Webinar discussed how schools and districts can take a more comprehensive approach to emergency preparedness by addressing the five mission areas as it relates to their unique community and its prioritized hazards and threats. Using examples from frequently asked questions about topics including threat assessments, earthquake preparedness, and adult sexual misconduct, the presenters discussed strategies to build capacity in critical functions and key courses of action were highlighted.

This 1 hour Webinar included a live PowerPoint presentation as well as a Question and Answer session and live Web chat on the Community of Practice following the presentation.
