On Thursday, April 30, 2015, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EDT, the U.S. Department of Education’s (ED) Office of Safe and Healthy Students (OSHS), with its Education Facilities Clearinghouse (EFC) and Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) Technical Assistance (TA) Center, celebrated National PrepareAthon! Day by hosting a Webinar that provided insight on safety and security design and cost-effective features to consider for new construction of or retrofitting existing school buildings and grounds
The presenters shared their knowledge about recommended safety considerations for the design and construction of new school buildings, as well as improvements to existing facilities. Specifically, participants were equipped to identify the most common construction and retrofits for school safety, discuss cost-effective options for improving safety and security in school buildings, recognize various types of site assessments, and take action to resolve safety concerns in educational facilities.
This 1 hour webinar included a live PowerPoint presentation as well as a Question and Answer session following the presentation.
