Purpose and Situation Overview

Purpose

The purpose sets the foundation for the rest of the higher ed EOP. The basic plan’s purpose is a general statement of what the higher ed EOP is meant to do. The statement should be supported by a brief synopsis of the basic plan and annexes.

Situation Overview

The situation section explains why a higher ed EOP is necessary. The situation section covers a general discussion of

The threats and hazards that pose a risk to the IHE and would result in a need to use this plan; and
Dependencies on parties outside the IHE for critical resources.
